For the most part, the Shinra are cold and cunning. They run the world with money and power, like economic tyrannts. They do not care about individuals and will do radical things just so that they can gain more profit.

President Shinra

President Shinra is the President and owner of Shinra Inc. He is a devious and cold-hearted mastermind who is behind most of the Shinra's evil plots. His lust for money and power drive him to suck the Planet dry of Mako energy, a very real possibility at the rate his company builds their Mako Reactors. However, Shinra's greed pushes him to far when he begins to carry out his plan to build a city, called Neo-Midgar, in the Promised Land. His thinking is that Mako energy will be so plentiful in the Promised Land, there will be no need for Mako Reactors to harvest it. President Shinra is brutally murdered by Sephiroth, who is after the Promised Land himself, soon after unveiling this plan.

Rufus Shinra

Rufus Shinra is the over-ambitious son of President Shinra. He rises to power after his father is killed by Sephiroth. Rufus is even more cunning and ruthless than his old man, and poses an even bigger threst to Cloud and his companions. Instead of buying off the people with lies and promises of protection as the old President did, Rufus uses fear to control the citizens. Definetly a force to be reckoned with.

Scarlet

Scarlet is one of the only high-ranking women execs in the corporation. She is cold and lethal, a typical Shinra member. She gets her name from the red evening gown she always wears. Blonde and brutal, she never turns down a good fight.

Professor Hojo

Professor Hojo is the successor to the late Professor Gast, who was a brilliant scientist and Aeris' father. Gast completed much research on the Ancients or Cetra and almost every fact about the Ancients came from Gast's writings. Hojo is neither as brilliant or compassionate as Gast. Im fact, he was responsible for the older professor's death. He kidnapped Gast and his wife, Ifalna, so that he could run tests on Ifalna, who was an Ancient. Hojo is Sephiroth's father through Lucrecia. He created the super soldier by injecting Lucrecia with Jenova cells during the pregnancy. Hojo is wicked and cunning; he will do whatever he feels necessary to get the job done.

Heidegger

Heidegger is President Shinra's chief lackey. He can usually be found carrying out one of the President's schemes or bossing around low-ranking soldiers. A fat man with a black beard, Heidegger appears at first glance to be jolly and harmless. However, he is just as cold-hearted as any other employee. He is always ready to do the President's bidding and he serves the Shinra loyally. He is characterized by his super-anoyying horse laugh.

Palmer

Palmer is without a doubt the most stupid and cowardly member of the Shinra. If you need proof, look no further than his death seen in Rocket Town (he escapes from battle, only to get run over by a truck). Whenever he speaks at Shinra meetings, it is often to spout nonsense. He used to be the exec in charge of the space program, but now that it has been scrapped, his future with the company hangs in limbo. He begs the President constantly to reinstate his beloved program, to no avail.

Reeve

Reeve is the member of the Shinra who controls Cait Sith's stuffed body. He is characterized by long, jet black hair. Although he is a member of the company, he eventually becomes an ally of Cloud and the others. You can read more about him in Cait Sith's profile.
