Sephiroth

About Sephiroth

Sephiroth is the final boss in Final Fantasy VII. However, when you fight him, he won't be the same old Sephiroth you've been chasing around the Planet for the entire game. Not only will you have to fight two different versions of him, but they both happen to be huge mutations of his human self. And you won't even gain any experience points to boot! However, if you beat Sephiroth, you're rewarded with a cool movie that makes full use of the game's cinema graphics. You can read more about Sephiroth's history in his profile.

What To Equip

The two versions of Sephiroth, Bizzaro Sephiroth and Safer Sephiroth, are fought directly after one another, with no break in between. Therefore, you will have to equip everything you need for both battles before facing Bizzaro Sephiroth.

First of all, you have to have the Knights of the Round materia. See my Gold Chocobo section to find out how to get it. This will make the battles insanely easy. However, if you do not have this materia, it will be a long, hard fight to defeat Sephiroth.

Also, the Safer Sephiroth fight will go a lot smoother if you have the W Summon materia, which can be obtained from the Gold Saucer Battle Arena, and 3 Mime materias (see my Gold Chocobo section). However, you can only get one Mime materia in this way, so you will have to master it and have another one born, and then master that one to get 3. I found that the best place to gain AP for these materia is in the jungle outside of Mideel. Equip Cid or Cloud with their triple growth weapon and put the materia you want to master in that weapon. Then, just get in a lot of fights. It may take a while, but it will be worth it.

Also, have one character equipped with the Cure-All combination, one with the Time-All combination, and one with the Barrier-All combination. In addition, you should try and have every character equipped with a cure spell and a revive spell.

Before heading into the Northern Crater, you might want to collect some of your characters' ultimate weapons and Level 4 Limit Breaks. You can find out how to get these things for each character here. Also, you should equip your most powerful spell and summon materia in your remaining materia slots.

Bizarro Sephiroth

In this battle, you will be able to use 1-3 parties against Sephiroth, depending on how your battle against Jenova Synthesis in the previous battle went. Your strategy will differ according to how many parties you are using, but you should always have most of your best equipment equipped on your first team, as these characters will be the only ones you can use in the next fight. However, don't leave your other parties defenseless.

Bizzaro Sephiroth is made up of 5 different parts: the Head, Left Magic, Right Magic, Torso, and Core. Your main goal should be destroying the core. It heals the torso every turn, preventing you from killing Sephiroth. However, it cannot be destroyed until all of its defenses have been removed. Focus all of your attacks on the core and its defenses, otherwise you are just wasting your turns.

After destroying one part of Bizarro Sephiroth, you will be asked if you wish to switch to another party. You should keep switching between teams, each one destroying a part at a time, unless you are in a single party situation.

Your best bet in this battle is to just summon Knights of the Round. This will usually completely destroy Sephiroth in one turn. However, if it doesn't, just use one of your less pwerful spells to finish him off. To practically guarantee a one turn kill, link Knights of the Round with the MP Turbo materia.

Safer Sephiroth

This fight can actually be quite easy if you move quickly enough. In your first turn, cast Haste, Regen, and Wall on everyone in your party. Next, summon Knights of the Round twice using W Summon. Have everyone in your party use Mime to repeat this spell. It should only take about 5 Knights of the Round spells to send Sephiroth spiralling off into the heavens.

If you didn't get the Knights of the Round materia, this battle can still be really easy. Follow my previous instructions for your first turn. After that, just keep using your most powerful spells and summons. For a really good effect, link Quadra Magic with the Bahamut ZERO summon materia and then use W Summon to cast this spell twice, hitting Sephiroth a total of 8 times. This also works with Comet and W Magic. If your characters are really high levels, like around 92 or 93, you may be able to defeat Safer Sephiroth with regular attacks.
