Chocobos are cute little creatures that roam the world. Some people keep them as pets, some use them for racing, and others use them for transportation. You can catch your own Chocobos in Final Fantasy VII. You can them ride them for transportation, feed them, mate them, even race them..

In order to catch a Chocobo, you first have to reach a place called the Chocobo Ranch which lies East of Kalm and Midgar. There you will be able to buy a materia called the Chocobo Lure materia. If you equip Chocobo Lure and run around on Chocobo tracks that can be found across the world, you will soon run into a Chocobo. You can catch the Chocobo by eliminating the enemies that appear with it before it runs away. You can then choose to send the Chocobo back to the Chocobo Ranch (if you have stables rented there), ride around on it, or let it go. However, when you ride around on a Chocobo, you cannot get in any battles, so it is impossible to gain experience.

There are 5 different types of Chocobos, each type able to travel over different types of terrain. There are also many different ratings of Chocobos that you can catch in different parts of the world. This guide has been put together to help you have the best Chocobos possible.
