There are 5 different types of Chocobos that you can get. To get a Chocobo that is not yellow, you will have to breed the right combination of Chocobos. To find out how to do this in more detail, go to my Gold Chocobo section.

Yellow Chocobos

Yellow Chocobos are the normal type of Chocobo. You can catch these on any Chocobo tracks on the world map. They possess no special abilities. The only benefit of riding a yellow Chocobo is that you can go a lot faster over regular terrain.

Green Chocobos

Green Chocobos are the most common type of special Chocobo, and the easiest to breed. They can cross any mountainous terrain, including the Nibel mountains. To get a Green Chocobo, breed an A class Great running female and an A class Good running male.

Blue Chocobos

Blue Chocobos are the second type of special Chocobo. They have the ability to cross any shallow body of water. Basically, they can go anywhere you can go in the Tiny Bronco and travel across normal land, too. You can get one in the same way as you get a green Chocobo. It's pretty much up to luck which kind you get, although I usually get green first.

Black Chocobos

Black Chocobos are the best kind of Chocobo, next to gold. They can cross any terrain that either a green or blue Chocobo could. The only place they can't go is on top of deep water. You can get one by breeding a green Chocobo and a blue Chocobo. It doesn't matter which one is female and which one is male.

Gold Chocobos

Gold Chocobos are the ultimate Chocobo type. They can go anywhere on the world map, even across deep water. To find out how to get one, see my Gold Chocobo section.
