The Five Gods Of Wutai

About The Five Gods Of Wutai

The Five Gods of Wutai are legendary creatures sacred to the people of Wutai. In the Pagoda of the Five Gods, a tall building that stands near the centre of the town, five people sit, each with their own floor. Each of these people have the ability to take the shape of one of the five gods at will. Citizens of Wutai may challenge these warriors and if they manage to beat all five of them in battle, the rewards are great. These warriors are: Gorki, Shake, Chekhov, Staniv, and Godo. Each one posseses unique abilities and powers. Talk to the old man sitting at the bottom of the Pagoda with Yuffie in your party to begin your ascent.

NOTE: Since only citizens of Wutai are allowed to challenge the Five Gods, you can only use Yuffie in these fights.

What To Equip

You will have a chance to heal and re-equip Yuffie between each individual battle, so I will tell you what to equip for each battle in that boss' section. However, there are a few things you'll need to do for all of the battles. First of all, if Yuffie's levels are really low, you'll have to do some battles with her before heading into Wutai and/or equip her with plenty of HP Plus and MP Plus materia. Also, you'll need to stock up on X-Potions, Turbo Ethers, and Elixirs. The more you have the better. You should always have Yuffie equipped with the Deathblow materia. You can link HP or MP Absorb to Deathblow to increase its effectiveness. You'll need to learn the Enemy Skills Beta and Big Guard. These can be learned from the Midgar Zolom in the swamp near the Chocobo Ranch and some creatures called Beachplugs along the Costa Del Sol beach, repectively. Lastly, you should have Yuffie's best weapon for that point in the game equipped, as well as the best armour availible.

Gorki

Before this fight, link the Elemental materia with Gravity in Yuffie's armour to protect her from Gorki's Demi 2 attack. Also, make sure she has Cure, Counterattack, Enemy Skill, and Time on her. When the fight begins, cast Haste and Big Gaurd on her. Then, just keep pounding away with either spells or physical attacks. Deathblow comes in handy in this battle. This boss isn't too hard if you just keep the hits coming.

Shake

Basically, just do the same thing you did with Gorki. Cast Haste and Big Guard (Barrier does fine in this case) on yourself and keep hacking away. If you want, you can try to paralyze Shake with ChocoMog. This makes the battle a lot easier. Use your most powerful magic and Limit Breaks as your bar fills up and you'll do fine.

Chekhov

Chekhov can actually be one of the hardest Gods to defeat because of her ability to suck out your health and transfer it to her. First of all, equip Yuffie with the Jem Ring. This will prevent Chekhov from paralyzing her. While in battle, make sure you have Barrier or Big Guard up at all times. When Chekhov starts using her Absorb attack, you'll be glad you did. Keep moving, and you should have no trouble putting this boss out for the count.

Staniv

For the fourth God of the Pagoda, Staniv is ridiculously easy to defeat. He has only one attack that really damages you, and it doesn't even hurt you very much. Just keep Barrier or Big Gaurd up and cast Haste on yourself, and you should be able to trash Staniv with nothing more than your normal attacks.

Godo

Godo sits at the top of the Pagoda, and with good reason. He is by far the hardest of the Five Gods. Godo has three different faces, each with its own abilities and attack strategy. His red face will hit you with an attack called the Beast Sword, which normally deals 250 - 300 points of damage. This face can also use the Enemy Skill Trine. Godo's gold face casts Sleepel or Mini on you and also heals the God with Cure 2 when his HP gets low. The white face uses Drain, Bio 2, and Demi 3. With a resumé like that, it's pretty obvious this guy means business.

First of all, you'll have to equip yourself so that you're protected from some of Godo's stronger attacks. In Yuffie's armour, put the Poison - Added Effect and Gravity - Elemental combinations. If you have a second Added Effect materia, link it with Seal in her armour. Then, give Yuffie the White Cape accessory to protect her from Mini. Also, make sure she has all of these materia equipped: Cure, Heal, Counterattack, Odin, Enemy Skill, and Time. You may find yourself running short of materia slots. If that's the case, drop the Poison - Added Effect combination and just use Poisona or Esuna to heal yourself when poisoned.

When the battle starts, caste Haste and Big Guard on yourself right away. Then, keep casting the Beta Enemy Skill. Heal yourself when your HP is low and replenish Big Gaurd when needed. As soon as Godo starts casting Cure 2 on himself, summon Odin. Then go back to your regular attack pattern. It may take a while, but this way you'll eventually wear Godo down.
